For a Morris & More noticed the need for strong,lightweight canopies for the South-African market - both for business and private use.

When Neels du Plessis and his family went on holiday in their Ford Courier, they were terribly frustrated in packing and organising all their luggage so that everything could fit in easily. First of all - their parrots’ cage could not fit on the back of the bakkie without lifting the existing canopy first. Then the bar-fridge couldn’t fit in next to the cage. Another problem was that the vehicle had been used all day without the canopy, and in order for them to pack, they had to be at least 2 strong adults to put the canopy back on the bakkie.

SO THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT...

Neels went and bought the neccessary materials, and before long he built them their first canvas canopy with a light-weight aluminium frame. It had all the requirements neccessary for them to fit in everything they wanted to take along on holiday. Best of all - his wife didn’t have to wait for someone to help her attach the canopy onto the bakkie, she could do it herself. While on holiday, he received no less than 4 orders and being the businessman that he is, he couldn’t refuse.

The frames are made of aluminium, strong and lightweight, and are custom-fit to your vehicle according to your specific needs. Another advantage is that the aluminium frame is rust-free, and therefor also maintenace free.
The canopy is made of ripstop material. Ripstop looks just like canvas, except that, if it should tear, the tear stops, and doesn’t run like other material does. It is weatherproof, and comes in a wide variety of colours. The material has also been UV-treated which is an absolute neccessity with our harsh sun-conditions.
Overall, the entire canopy weighs between 11-and 13kg for a double cab, and about 17- to 19 kg for a single cab.

After our first outdoor-show several dealers approached us, enquiring about our product. What we agreed to do was to give them a canopy on consignment. They could then use our product not only for promotions, but also in providing their potential buyers a solution to what might have been the same problem which started this great product.

We currently have a variety of attachments.The most popular is the “awning”-attachment which simply zips onto the side of the canopy. It ‘s easy to attach and just as easy to remove. Another feature is drop-sides,which zips onto the awning and basically converts the awning to a tent.
Furthermore there is inside -pockets for all those loose items which one can never find. The frame could also be strengthened to accomodate a roofrack or rooftent.
